We have been making our mark for hundreds & thousands of years.
Getting what’s in our heads…… OUT!
Out there!!!!!
Onto a cave wall, a canvas, molding a lump of clay
Onto the keys of a piano, the skins of drum, the strings of a guitar
Through our own bodies in the form of movement & dance
We write we sing we draw we express ourselves & make our mark
Creativity makes us feel ALVE!
Free, happy, at peace
it can fill us with joy & passion

Why is creativity not valued by so many people??? Why is it not given the correct time & funding in so many schools??
It is in our human nature to be creative & use our imaginations!
So many of the kids who come to my art club say the same things……..
“We hardly do any art in school”
“If we do art its boring & we can’t use our own ideas”
‘The paint we use is dried up”
“The brushes we use are rubbish”
“I don’t feel i can be creative at school”
“I sometimes feel frustrated that we only do one hour of art a week in school”
ONE HOUR A WEEK???????????
These are actual quotes from the kids at my art club…………..
I feel their pain & frustration. I felt like this at school & at college but that’s another story, & for another video clip!!
And so to conclude………
CREATIVITY IS NATURAL, BEAUTIFUL & VITAL
CREATIVITY IS ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL TO OUR HEALTH & WELLBEING
ITS CRUCIAL THAT WE NEVER EVER LOSE OR FORGET THIS!

Based in Hale near Altrincham in Cheshire in the UK, I’ve run Parsley Pie for over 16 glorious, messy & happy years! I LOVE my art club & the ethos!
Parsley Pie is a quirky inspirational & very messy studio where children of all ages & all abilities who have a passion for art, get the time, space & resources to be truly creative!
The ethos since day one has been FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION!
Kids are treated as individuals in small friendly groups & can work in their own way, in their own time, with no pressure, no curriculum, no grades & without being judged.
Im not breathing down their necks & interfering, but they know I am there if they ever need help or guidance.
