SPIDER PUMPKIN CANDLE HOLDER/SWEETIE HOLDER
MATERIALS
1. a pumpkin
2. glass bowl or jar
3. newspaper
4. string
5. black acrylic paint & a brush
6. spoon for scooping & a knife
7. a candle
INSTRUCTIONS
ask an adult to help you cut off the top of the pumpkin where the leaves and stalk are
then scoop out enough of the insides so your glass bowl or jar will sit inside neatly
to make each leg put a few sheets of news paper together one on top of each other and then twist them up and length ways so you have a long tube of scrunched up news paper. So the paper doesn’t unravel wrap and bind the string around it from top to bottom, then tie to secure,
you will need repeat this 7 more times to make all the 8 legs!
next paint all 8 legs with the black pain, leave to dry
When dry, attach the spiders legs onto the pumpkin. Ask an adult to help you make 8 small holes (4 each side) of the pumpkin so you can poke the legs in snuggly so they will stay in place
now you need to paint on the spiders eyes and mouth, use the black paint
Finally put the glass bowl inside your spider pumpkin! You can either put a candle in it or use it to store any sweets or treats you may collect!
or you can make a mini one using a mini pumpkin and black pipe cleaners for the legs and a tea light
