Jenny judges school art competition!!

Press Release 13.05.2008
From Simon Carter, Pownall Hall School PR Officer

Local artist Jenny Bent was looking for something out of ordinary when she judged Pownall Hall School’s art competition.
A working artist for the last 15 years, Jenny from Hale combines her figurative art, while running a children’s art club and working as an authentic Egyptian belly dancer.
She said: “I suppose I am a little out of the ordinary and I am looking for the same in a young artist. Someone who uses their initiative, imagination and creativity. At a young age I like to see originality as much as I like to see technical skill.”
Jenny works with young artists from all over the county at her club Parsley Pie, offering after school and weekend tuition and guidance in painting, collage, mosaic, clay, textiles, drawing and much more besides.
She said: “I love my art and I love my belly dancing and in many ways they are quite similar. I find that I lose myself whenever I am deeply involved in a painting or I am dancing. I get into the zone and am really focused on what I am doing.”
The winners are pictured with Jenny (left) and Pownall Hall’s Head of Art Heather Henning Lee. From left to right: Sarah Barron Year 4, Rebecca Ward Year 6 and Amber Twambley Year 5.

• ART CLUB PHOTOS

I am trying to build up the art club’s portfolio, photos of children & their art work. I also plan to create an on line children’s art gallery on The Parsley Pie web site. Please speak to me if you have any objections to having your children photographed by me with their art work, either for the portfolio or for inclusion on the web site. The photos are used by The Parsley Pie Art Club only; the portfolio is shown to children, parents & also in schools. If you would like any copies of the photos taken of your children at the art club, please email me: jenny@parsleypie.com & I will email you the digital file so you can get the images printed!
