Parsley Pie Art Club was established in 2001 by professional artist & dancer Jenny Bent
Parsley Pie Art Club gives children aged over five years a unique opportunity to express themselves freely through art in a safe & friendly environment.
Children learn new skills & techniques, have fun & make friends!
They are encouraged to use their initiative & imagination and are provided with the materials & resources to experiment & explore as much as they wish!
Class sizes are small so children receive plenty of individual attention & guidance.

Classes, parties & work shops run all year round and are held at Jenny’s
professional art studio in Hale, near Altrincham in Cheshire, or we can travel to you!

The freedom of choice & the freedom of expression ethos that Parsley Pie Art Club thrives on, encourages children to use their initiative & make their own decisions. In return for good behaviour, children are allowed to choose their own projects & themes, & their own activities, materials, tools & equipment.
This teaches children how to be responsible for their own choices & actions, helping them understand the importance & the benefits of self responsibility, self discipline & patience if they want freedom!

RESPONSIBILITY & DISCIPLINE

Children have to be well behaved at Parsley Pie Art Club!
They are strongly encouraged to be self disciplined & responsible for their own behaviour. In return for good behaviour & manners, showing respect & patience, children are rewarded by having total freedom to choose their own themes, materials & activities!

BAD BEHAVIOUR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AT PARSLEY PIE ART CLUB. CHILDREN WHO ARE DISRUPTIVE, ABUSIVE OR RUDE WILL BE EXCLUDED

IMAGINATION, INSPIRATION, INITIATIVE

Parsley Pie Art Club strives to encourage freedom of expression. It produces brilliant results when children create things they are interested in! It helps the creative process and a child’s determination & focus if they like & can relate to the subject they are working on. They absorb more & learn more with out realising it, & use their imaginations more effectively because they are happy & relaxed!
Parsley Pie art Club provides a large “library” books, photographs & pictures that the children can look at for inspiration!
Children are given ALL the resources to enable them to be free & use their
initiative & make their own decisions.

EXPLORATION, EXPERIMENTATION

Parsley Pie Art Club provides a huge choice of materials, activities & tools. Children can experiment & explore ideas, discover new ways of working, while learning & having lots of fun!

There are well over 150 activities that the children can choose from including: painting, fridge magnets, wall hanging, masks, clay modelling, fabric painting, 3D pictures, decorative mirrors, pop up cards, collage, paper chains, totem poles, face painting, mini worlds, fossil plaques, head dresses & tiaras, mosaic, door signs, paper weights, clay & lots more!

Plus, Parsley Pie Art Club introduces children to the endless supply of themes available, EG: ghosts & ghouls, princesses, TV & films, countries & places, dragons & monsters, dancers, super speed machines, fairies, sport, animals & nature, music & pop stars, cartoon & TV characters, mythical creatures, people, mermaid’s, tribal warriors, fashion, castles, pirates, festivals, mini beasts, historical people & places, imaginary creatures, outer space, sea creatures, super heroes, cartoon characters, vampires, aliens, elves, dinosaurs, buildings……….!

EDUCATION, LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Jenny agrees that some of the most important artistic traits to have are inspiration, passion, imagination and motivation! She also firmly believes that there are plenty of skills & techniques that can be taught & nurtured: painting & brush techniques, colour mixing, using different types of paint, working with different materials, clay techniques and drawing skills & more, can all open up a vast realm of creative
possibilities and improve a child’s skills & confidence.
Jenny can demonstrate particular skills which enable individual children to reach their creative goals.
The right environment & helping to build a child’s confidence can also help them to feel passionate, be inspired, more motivated & be more open to learning new things.
Parsley Pie Art Club aims to help children discover what inspires them, what they like & don’t like, what there their own limits & goals are, these things all help their confidence grow & grow!
Parsley Pie Art Club also provides a huge number of resources so the children can learn a wide range of techniques & skills.

CONFIDENCE & SELF ESTEEM

Children who feel that they can achieve their own goals & see their ideas through to the end will grow to have more confidence within themselves.
When children experience the process of making their own decisions & that this process can lead to successful results & a finish product they are happy with, this is an excellent way to build a child’s confidence & self esteem.
As Parsley Pie Art Club class sizes are small, Jenny gives each child the right amount of help & support to suit their individual needs, but with out taking over and dictating. This means that each child still has to think for themselves, problem solve & experience both the good & bad consequences of their own actions.
They feel that their own thoughts & decisions matter!
This gives children a sense of self worth & self responsibility.

STRUCTURE & STIMULATION

Parsley Pie is proud to provide small class sizes!
A maximum of only 8 children per group!
This means that Jenny gives plenty of help to each child & is able to demonstrate many different techniques!
Each child is encouraged to use their imagination & initiative & each child can choose what THEY would like to do in each session, but, Jenny also provides inspiration, stimulation & help with out taking over!
Parsley Pie offers a fine balance of structure & leaving the child to their own devices; which can only be done successfully with the many years of experience that Jenny has working with children in this way!
She advises & guides children individually, giving each child what they need,
but without dictating to them or letting them run riot!
