A.B.C Art By Children FOR CHILDREN!
A FEW WORDS FROM JENNY BENT, PARSLEY PIE FOUNDER AND LEADER”
I have set the ABC scheme where the children who come to Parsley Pie Art Club can donate their art work to other children & young people who are less fortunate than themselves, like children who are ill and living in hospices & children who live in care homes.
Art By Children For Children!
This is a “not for profit” scheme. I chose to set it up for 2 main reasons, the first being that, very often, the last thing on the budget for most children’s hospitals & homes is art for the walls and as a result they may not seem like very homely or cheery places to the children staying there. Secondly, some of you have occasionally joked that you’ll “need to move house or have an extension to fit in all the art work, brought home by your child from The Parsley Pie Art Club”!
The donated art work will be distributed to hospitals, hospices & children’s homes. It will hang on the walls to cheer up and inspire other young people, brighten up their lives and it will cost them nothing!
As some of you have been coming to The Parsley Pie Art Club for a long time, some for many years, I know that you must have lots of art work that could be spared, some of which, is probably up in the loft or buried in the garage never to be seen again! What a shame! All the donated art will hang in pride of place in a hospital ward or in a child’s room and be appreciated by many, for years to come!
I have been in touch with several local children’s homes & charities and I have had a lot of very positive and enthusiastic feed back about the ABC scheme.
I also recently met Julie Isted who works at The Together Trust Centre in Cheadle. Julie visited the studio in June and was very impressed by all the great work the children create at The Parsley Pie Art Club.
The Together Trust, provides social care, special education, community support and consultancy services. It offers Fostering and Adoption Services which are available throughout the North of England. The charity also provides some of the leading specialist education services in Cheshire, operating six special schools, a college and centres supporting young people who cannot attend mainstream education.

DONATING ART WORK:
1. Discuss with your child if donating their art work is something they would like to do, explaining how much it could benefit other children and their work would be part of a very worthwhile & special permanent public exhibition!
They can donate an existing picture or create one especially for ABC!
Also, every child must be clear that they will NOT get their art work back once it has been donated. If they are happy about this, they can then choose the best pieces of art work they are be happy to give away
2. Work to be donated must be able to hang on a wall, it can be a painting, a collage, a mosaic, a fabric painting
3. All art work to be donated must be dropped off at a Parsley Pie Studio. The art work must be ready to hang SECURELY: you need to fix proper screws & strong hanging wire onto the back of the board (no glue, staples etc holding the wire in place please)
The edges of the board must be painted & on the back of the board please stick on a label or write the child’s first name & age on it
